By Paul Byrnes, VP of Distributor Development
In our recent NetPlus Alliance Industry Outlook report, many of our members indicated that industrial distributors are continuing to have difficulty finding and attracting candidates for open positions. To improve your company’s chances of finding and hiring the right people, distributors need to stop sabotaging their recruiting efforts. I recently shared some ideas in an article for Modern Distribution Management (MDM).
Here are three ways that industrial distributors are hurting their recruiting efforts:
- Not Sharing Company Culture on Social Media
Today’s job seekers are looking for companies with vibrant and defined organizational cultures. Make sure you are showing a more personal side on your social media channels.
- Not Asking Existing Employees for Referrals
Employee referrals work because employees are not going to recommend someone they don't think is a good person. Ask your people if they know anyone looking for a job who might be a good fit for the company.
- Not Using Job Fairs or Recruiters
Spark interest in your business by letting potential employees behind the scenes of your operation by hosting a job fair or seek candidates through the assistance of a recruiter.
These three things don’t guarantee that you will find the right candidates, but not doing them will hinder your chances.
